The 2024 Oscar nominations featured a historic nod for Lily Gladstone, a dominant 13 nominations for ‘Oppenheimer’, and 11 for ‘Poor Things’.
Bradley Cooper received three nominations, increasing his lifetime total to 12, but both he and Greta Gerwig were overlooked for the Best Director category.
Announced by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, these nominations highlighted the year’s major films. ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Barbie’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Poor Things’, and ‘The Holdovers’ were strong contenders, having secured significant accolades at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes, and support from key industry guilds.
The race also included other Best Picture candidates like ‘Maestro’ and ‘Past Lives’, as well as popular animated films such as ‘The Boy and the Heron’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’
